Ambiguity by Charlotte Reynolds

Ambiguity is a body of work which explores my own interpretations of how ambiguity or uncanniness occurs in the structure of the human body. Ambiguity is completed through the mediums of sculpture and drawing. These artworks are created with galvanised metal and balanced air-dried clay, and also a series of graphite pencil drawings framed with metal bars. In my practice, I force these two mediums together. Through these mediums, I attempt to explore the limitations of the body, how the body can be contorted, twisted or deformed to become something uncanny or inexact. My practice involves my own fascination with leaving traces of my movements or marks behind on the artworks showing its processes each medium went through, examples being my own fingerprints on the air-dried clay or the smudging of graphite on a drawing.
